RESOLUTION NO. 2013- 20(05 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF SUNNY ISLES <br /> BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CITY ADVISORY <br /> COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION TO PURSUE SOCIAL MEDIA; <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY TO <br /> DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br /> RESOLUTION; PROVDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has always had a strong desire to maintain an <br /> open and direct line of communication with its residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide its residents with greater access to real-time <br /> information, such as, special city events, traffic, public safety and weather conditions; and <br /> WHEREAS, within the last five (5) years social media has become an effective tool to <br /> provide information to the public in real-time; and <br /> WHEREAS, numerous governmental agencies throughout the Nation are now using <br /> Social Media tools, such as, Twitter and Facebook, to disseminate important information to the <br /> public. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Supporting the Recommendation of the City Advisory Committee to Pursue <br /> Social Media Initiatives. The City Commission hereby supports the City Advisory Committee's <br /> recommendation to pursue social media initiatives. <br /> Section 2. Authorization of City Manager and City Attorney. The City Manager and City <br /> Attorney are hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> Section 3. Effective Date.
