Hines, CMC, City Clerk <br /> DATE: 6/20/2013 <br /> RE: Resolution Accepting the Results of the Special Election Held <br /> on June 4, 2013 to Consider Proposed Amendments to the <br /> City Charter <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is requested that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting <br /> the results of the Special Election held on June 4, 2013. <br /> REASONS: <br /> The Canvassing Board for the Special Election held on June 4, 2013 has <br /> completed the canvassing and hereby needs to be discharged consisting of <br /> Resident Emanuel Pine, City Manager Christopher J. Russo, and City Clerk Jane <br /> A. Hines. The Miami-Dade County Elections Department has issued the official <br /> results on the following proposed amendments to our Charter: <br /> 1) Requiring proof of residency for candidates for Commissioner or Mayor at time <br /> of qualifying; <br /> Shall the above described amendment be adopted? Yes 452 votes; No 6 votes <br /> 2) Requiring consent of the City Commission to hire or terminate the Chief of <br /> Police; <br /> Shall the above described amendment be adopted?
