Russo, City Manager <br />FROM: Helen Gray, PE, City Engineer <br />DATE: 6/20/2013 <br />RE: A Resolution Approving a Contract Amendment with Keith & <br />Schnars,- P.A. for Professional Services for the FPL Overhead <br />to Underground Conversion Project <br />We recommend City Commission approve the resolution. <br />REASONS: <br />The adopted City budget includes a capital project to convert aerial utilities <br />(power and telecommunications providers) to underground. The Collins Avenue <br />corridor has been prioritized as the first of three remaining areas in the City with <br />overhead distribution lines. Phase I, which included assessment, data collection, <br />refined cost estimates and schedules, and coordination with various utilities and <br />service providers within the project limits is largely complete and to implement <br />this project, Phase II services are now needed. Phase it includes services <br />needed to complete the construction drawings to be publicly advertised and bid <br />as detailed in the attached contract. Note that this project is to be completed by <br />the City in advance of the Collins Avenue resurfacing project currently scheduled <br />for 2015. <br />Future contract amendment(s) will include land surveying services needed for <br />legal descriptions and sketches for utility easements for pad mounted equipment <br />for FPL and telecommunications providers, specific purpose surveys of proposed <br />easement areas to facilitate design, along with bidding and award support and <br />construction administration and inspection functions.
