Verona Avenue Bridge Over Golden Gate Canal,
FDOT FIN NO. 405904- 1 -52 -01, CONTRACT NO.
T6028, FAP NO. 629026U
Golden Beach, FL
Replacement of existing bridge and Roadway with a
Highly Decorative Bridge in one of the wealthiest
neighborhoods in South Florida. Anzac submitted and
received approval from the Department on the
following VECP(s):
1. Replaced 18" Augercast Piles designed to
support a Load Transfer Platform under the
Road with a 6" CSV Grout Piles and
reengineered the LTP, saving substantial
money and utilizing a much cleaner method.
2. Redesigned a complicated precast panel
bulkhead with combination of Coated Steel
Sheeting and Composite H- Piles.
Other engineering redesigns or solutions that Anzac
initiated and received approval on were:
1. Made the Department aware of the extent of
deterioration of the existing bridge structure
that was utilized during construction of Phase I
new construction. Within the first days on the
job, Anzac discovered that the existing bridge
slabs were failing and needed an immediate
emergency fix; this was the only way on & off
a very high profile neighborhood island
community. Anzac engineered a temporary
steel support structure that was placed under
the existing bridge, received the Department's
approval and within days after discovery of the
problem had the temporary structure installed.
2. Redesigned a cast -in -place portion of the new
structure as a Precast element, saving time on
construction of the Superstructure deck.
3. Redesigned a complicated CIP Structural
Concrete Beam supporting a new Force Main
with a Precast solution.
4. Redesigned the alignment and fittings needed
for a new Force Main and Water Main to better
accommodate site conditions and construction
phasing. This saved MDWASD (Force Main)
and Town of Golden Beach (Water Main)
money on their corresponding JPA(s) with the
Department.
Work involved in this project included but was not
limited to Removal of Existing Structures, MOT with
Temporary Traffic Signals at each end of the project to
provide one lane traffic across the bridge, 48" Drilled
Shafts (self - performed from a barge in a very tight
canal),
Reinforcing Steel, Concrete, Prestressed Deck slabs
with CIP Superstructure Deck, Steel Sheet Piling,
Seismic Monitoring of Multimillion Dollar Houses within
15 If of construction and Existing Seawalls that
connect to the new construction, Road, Paving,
Drainage, Utilities, Force Main & Water Main,
Irrigation, Sodding, Landscaping, Fencing, Steel
Handrails, Class V Coating. Anzac received an overall
grade of "102" from the Department on this project.
Water Management District Contract No. C -E306
Palm Beach County, FL
Construction of two new bridges and roadwork along
US -27 near the Palm Beach/Broward County lines.
Project involved excavating a new canal across the
existing lanes of US -27 and subsequently constructing
two new bridges across the new canal. Anzac
submitted and received approval on major redesign of
the MOT. The redesign eliminated the need for a large
amount of temporary steel sheet piling and saved
significant time and money on the project.
Work involved on this project involved but was not
limited to Clearing, MOT and Temporary Road
Construction, Excavation of new canal, Pile Driving,
Reinforcing Steel, Concrete, FDOT Twin Tee Bridge
Beams, Traffic Railing, Class V Coating, Rubble Rip
Rap, Road, Drainage, Grading, Paving, Striping &
Signs, Seeding & Sodding.
US 1 Bridges, FDOT Fin # 249856- 1 -52 -01, Miami
Dade County, FL
Worked as the Bridge Subcontractor and Design Build
Team member under the Prime Contractor,
Community Asphalt Corp. Anzac was involved from
the beginning of this project assisting with the design
of three bridges on this project. One bridge was a
replacement of an existing bascule bridge with a new
longer three span bridge (233' -0' long). Work involved
18" and 24" piles, Type III AASHTO Girders, cast -in-
place deck, traffic railing barriers, MSE walls and
coping, channel excavating, removal of an existing
