Russo, City Manager • e,ul) DATE: September 19, 2013 RE: INCREASE COSTS FOR EXTENDED LIBRARY HOURS RECOMMENDATION This Resolution is presented for your consideration. REASONS Fiscal year 2012-2013, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (City) supplemented four (4) public service hours from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for Friday's schedule at the Sunny Isles Beach Branch Library. The annual cost to the City for this service was $13,330.24. These extra hours were beneficial for our residents and visitors. The City was recently informed that the new annual cost for fiscal year 2013-2014 will be in the amount of$15,347.01. The City will continue to supplement the four (4) public service hours on Fridays at the revised cost. This amount includes additional salary costs, COLAs, and merit salary increases for three (3) library assistants: one (1) - Library Assistant 3 and two (2) - Library Assistant 1. This increase represents a $2,016.77 cost difference. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Article III of the Second Amendment of the Interlocal Library Lease Agreement (Resolution 2011-1806), supports the aforementioned increases, "The CITY shall pay all costs associated with the increase in operating hours of the Sunny Isles Beach Branch Library.. Specifically, THE • CITY shall pay the additional salary costs, including any and all COLA and merit salary increases."
