RESOLUTION NO. 2013- -2,1 q3 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE, AND EXPEND GRANT <br />FUNDS FROM THE MIAMI -DADE COUNTY, FEDERAL FUNDS, <br />EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT <br />(JAG) PROGRAM — AMERICAN RECOVERY & <br />REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009, IN THE AMOUNT OF THREE <br />THOUSAND SIXTY -NINE DOLLARS ($3,069.00); <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County has been awarded federal fiends from the Edward Byrne <br />Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program — American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of <br />2009; and <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Funds, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) <br />Program is administered through the Miami -Dade County Department of Human Services; and <br />WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has been given preliminary approval <br />for a portion of said grant funds; and <br />WHEREAS, these funds will be used to purchase School Resource Officers Teaching Tools <br />for Kids Safety Classes; and <br />WHEREAS, the preliminarily approved grant funding is in a total amount of Three <br />Thousand Sixty -Nine Dollars ($3,069.00) (no cash match is required); and <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to authorize staff to apply for, receive. and expend said grant <br />funding for the purposes mentioned above, in the terms and conditions as outlined in the Byrne Grant <br />application, attached hereto as Exhibit "A "; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Authority of Mayor. Authorization for the Mayor to apply for, receive, and expend <br />grant funds from the Miami -Dade County Federal Drug Control & System Improvement Program <br />(Byrne /JAG Grant FY 2013/2014), in the amount of Three Thousand Sixty -Nine Dollars <br />($3,069.00), is hereby approved. <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is authorized to do all things <br />necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
