Susan Simpson, Cultural & Community Services Director <br />DATE: 12/19/2013 <br />RE: In -Kind and Monetary Donation to Kiwanis Club for the Feast of the <br />Senses Event <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to <br />support the Kiwanis fundraising event, Feast of the Senses, with in -kind support <br />in an estimated amount of Eleven Thousand Two Hundred Thirty -Five Dollars <br />and Fifty Cents ($11,235.50), and a monetary donation to cover other out -of- <br />pocket expenses in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). <br />REASONS: <br />Kiwanis Club of North Miami Beach & Sunny Isles Beach is dedicated to raising <br />funds to benefit the children of the Sunny Isles Beach community. Feast of the <br />Senses is a ticketed special event that offers event attendees tastings of sample <br />fare from local restaurants and sample sized wine tastings while enjoying quality <br />music and both live and silent auctions of fine collectible art. <br />It is proposed that this event be hosted in the gymnasium at Pelican Community <br />Park on Sunday, March 2, 2014. The City is dedicated to supporting this event <br />with an in -kind donation of free use of the facility, city equipment and supplies, as <br />well as city personnel to assist in the production and security of the event.
