Gateway Park Center PERKINS+WILL <br /> 810495.00 <br />12/06/18 <br />033000-26 Cast-In-Place <br />Concrete <br />D.Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) used as Fill - Geofoam <br />1.Material: Rigid, closed cell polystyrene blocks formed by expansion of <br />polystyrene beads by steam. <br />2.Comply with the requirements of ASTM D 6817 <br />3.Unless noted otherwise on the drawings, provide the following types of <br />EPS: <br />a)Fill between a lower slab and a raised slab area: EPS12 -2.2 psi <br />(15 kPa) compressive resistance minimum at 1% deformation, 10 <br />psi (70 kPa) flexural strength minimum <br />b)Typical below interior floor slabs supported on grade (soil fill over <br />EPS fill) or directly on EPS fill: EPS15 - 3.6 psi (25 kPa) <br />compressive resistance minimum at 1% deformation, 25 psi (170 <br />kPa) flexural strength minimum <br />c)Fill below exterior floor slabs or slabs with truck loading: EPS19 - <br />5.8 psi (40 kPa) compressive resistance minimum at 1% <br />deformation, 30 psi (200 kPa) flexural strength minimum <br />4.Thickness as indicated on Drawings. <br />5.Execution: Conform to manufacturer’s instructions regarding preparation, <br />installation and protection <br />6.Gripper plates shall be used as needed to restrain EPS from moving <br />laterally in multi-layer applications <br />7.Contractor shall sequence soil or concrete topping placement to avoid <br />EPS block shift or flotation. <br />8.Submit the following for review: <br />a)Manufacturer’s product literature including physical properties in <br />compliance with ASTM D 6817 and type specified <br />b)10 year physical property warranty <br />c)Proposed plan layout of fill blocks showing gaps between blocks <br />where required for stabilizing and/or load bearing reinforced <br />concrete ribs as shown on drawings, in details or in notes. <br />9.Submit the following for record: <br />a)Summary of test compliance with specified performance <br />characteristics and physical properties <br />b)Product Certificates showing evidence of third party quality control <br />10.Acceptable product: Foam Control EPS Geofoam by AFM Corporation, <br />Lakeville, MN <br />11.Acceptable product: EPS Geofoam by Styrotech, Brooklyn Park, MN <br />12.Acceptable product: EPS Geofoam by Universal Foam Products, Hunt <br />Valley, MD <br />13.Acceptable product: EPS Geofoam by Dyplast Products, Miami, FL <br />E.Vapor Retarder: See Division 7, Thermal and Moisture Protection <br />1.Minimum 15-mil thick polyolefin geomembrane
