Locate concealed framing, blocking, and reinforcements that support paneling <br />by field measurements before being enclosed/concealed by construction and <br />indicate measurements on Shop Drawings. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 PANELING, GENERAL <br />A. Quality Standard: Unless otherwise indicated, comply with the "Architectural <br />Woodwork Standards" for grades of plastic-laminate-faced wood paneling <br />(decorative laminate surfacing) indicated for construction, finishes, installation, and <br />other requirements. <br />1. Provide inspections including installation together with labels and certificates <br />from AWI certification program indicating that woodwork complies with <br />requirements of grades specified. <br />2. The Contract Documents contain requirements that are more stringent than <br />the referenced woodwork quality standard. Comply with requirements of <br />Contract Documents in addition to those of the referenced quality standard. <br />2.2 PLASTIC-LAMINATE-FACED WOOD PANELING <br />A. Grade: Premium. <br />B. Plastic Laminate: High-pressure decorative laminate complying with NEMA LD 3 and <br />the following requirements: <br />1. Products: As indicated <br />2. Faces: Grade VGS. <br />3. Backs: Grade BKH. <br />4. Exposed Edges: Same as faces or Grade VGS. <br />C. Colors, Patterns, and Finishes: Provide materials and products that result in colors <br />and textures of exposed surfaces complying with the following requirements: <br />1. As indicated by manufacturer's designations. <br />D. Panel Core: Fire-retardant particleboard or fire-retardant MDF. <br />1. Thickness: 3/4 inch. <br />E. Exposed Panel Edges: Plastic-laminate matching faces. <br />F. Adhesives for Bonding Plastic Laminate: Unpigmented contact cement. <br />1. Adhesive for Bonding Edges: Hot-melt adhesive or adhesive specified above <br />for faces.
