Grade: Premium. <br />B. Wood Species and Cut: <br />1. Species: White oak. <br />2. Cut: Plain sliced/plain sawn. <br />C. For base wider than available lumber, glue for width. Do not use veneered <br />construction. <br />2.3 WOOD MATERIALS <br />A. Wood Products: Provide materials that comply with requirements of referenced <br />quality standard for each type of wood trim and quality grade specified unless <br />otherwise indicated. <br />1. Do not use plain-sawn softwood lumber with exposed, flat surfaces more than <br />3 inches wide. <br />2. Wood Moisture Content for Interior Materials: 5 to 10 percent. <br />2.4 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS <br />A. Adhesives: Use adhesives that meet the testing and product requirements of the <br />California Department of Public Health's "Standard Method for the Testing and <br />Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using <br />Environmental Chambers." <br />B. Installation Adhesive: Product recommended by fabricator for each substrate for <br />secure anchorage. <br />1. Adhesives shall have a VOC content of 70 g/L or less. <br />2.5 FABRICATION <br />A. Sand fire-retardant-treated wood lightly to remove raised grain on exposed <br />surfaces before fabrication. <br />B. Fabricate wood trim to dimensions, profiles, and details indicated. Ease edges to <br />radius indicated for the following: <br />1. Edges of Solid-Wood (Lumber) Members: 1/16 inch unless otherwise <br />indicated. <br />C. Backout or groove backs of flat trim members and kerf backs of other wide, flat <br />members except for members with ends exposed in finished work. <br />D. Assemble casings in shop except where shipping limitations require field assembly.
