In 1971 Valencia Community College moved to their <br />first permanent location, the 180-acre West <br />Campus located at Kirkman Road. Valencia <br />continued to expand, opening additional campus <br />locations. The East Campus opened in 1975, the <br />Osceola Campus in 1997 and the Winter Park <br />Campus in 1998. In July 2011, the State Board of <br />Governors directed the change of certain community <br />colleges to state colleges, allowing for the inclusion <br />of four year degree programs. <br />As a result, the school was renamed Valencia <br />College. That same year, they began to offer <br />bachelor's degrees for the first time with the launch <br />of two new programs: Radiologic and Imaging <br />Sciences, and Electrical and Computer Engineering <br />Technology. The Aspen Prize for Community College <br />Excellence was based on measurable achievements <br />in graduation rates, workforce placement and <br />innovative programs. They award more associate <br />degrees than any other community college <br />in the nation. <br />DIRECT CONNECT TO UCF <br />Under what's know as the 2+2 system, students who <br />earn an associate's degree are guaranteed a place as <br />juniors at a state university, like UCF. This program <br />guarantees Valencia graduates admission and a <br />smooth transition to UCF.
