27 HOOK+BRIDGE RFP Nº 19-07-02WORK SAMPLESBRAND REFRESH Open Letter from the Chairman of the Board Last year, I retired as Mayor of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Since its incorporation in 1997, this City has sought to distinguish itself with, among many other things, visionary development projects and the creation of eleven state-of the-art public park facilities that serve as venues for out- standing cultural and recreational programming. Additionally, a brand new K-8 elementary school has been constructed, with a third addition already being contemplated because of its popularity. During this time, the city’s full-time population has nearly doubled and its transient population has increased again several fold with both an active summer and winter season, serving as a world-class destination with access to some of Florida’s finest beaches. Already home now to thousands of new immigrants from all over the world including Russian, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, South America, Canada and Europe, what I believe the City needs now is the creation of “community.” Nothing, in my opinion, has the ability to weave the fabric of community more than shared cultural experiences. The arts engage and energize people in a transformative way. Thus, our community foundation was created to invest in the future of the City with a permanent charitable endowment dedicated to promote quality of life through multidisciplinary cultural arts and government initiatives designed to incite and inspire engagement of the City’s diverse population, to focus on creative public space - and place-making, and enhance the culture of Sunny Isles Beach. It is through the philanthropic generosity of others that the Sunny Isles Beach Foundation is able to lead the way. In addition, by working in partnership with the City government, we are uniquely positioned to bring our mission to reality.
