FIRMS FROM SECTION C INVOLVED WITH THIS PROJECT
a.
(1) FIRM NAME (2) FIRM LOCATION (City and State)(3) ROLE
FINLEY Engineering Group, Inc. Tallahassee, FL Lead Bridge Designer
The WaterSound Footbridge will be a 262’ pedestrian bridge spanning US 98 in WaterSound, Florida connecting the new development to WaterSound
Parkway and ultimately the beach on the Gulf Coast. The bridge will be 16’ wide and allow for both cyclists and pedestrians to use the bridge. To increase
safety, pedestrians an cyclists will each have dedicated lanes separated by a raised barrier. Due to the height of the bridge, a ramp system is included to
allow for pedestrian, cyclists, and ADA access. The bridge was modeled and analyzed to meet the criteria of The St Joe Company and meet the FDOT
Design Guidelines for pedestrian bridges. Included in the report that FINLEY prepared are visualizations and concept drawings of the bridge as well as
conceptual cost estimates and construction schedules. The cost estimates were calculated on a unit based price model. The report concluded with a
comparison chart based on criteria’s that are of importance to a bridge of this scale and location.
Relevance: The steel girder bridge was selected as the preferred options since it allows for a signature style bridge without exceeding the budget
due to the monumental towers at the ends of the bridge. The steel box allows for ease of construction while still creating a beautiful structure.
E
