At
the start of the project, we develop
a project-specific BIM Plan, which
clarifies the intended uses of the
model, the roles and responsibilities
of team members, and the protocols
for data exchange between team
members. When contractors are
integrated into the project team, we
encourage their participation in the
development of the plan. This allows
the model to be used jointly by the
design and construction teams.
The BIM Plan defines the
following items:
• Model use: How the model will be
used at each stage of the project’s
design and construction.
• Levels of development: The level
of modeling detail of building
components for each phase.
• Collaboration and
communications protocols:
The exchange of electronic
information and collaboration
procedures.
• Analysis plan: How the model will
support other analysis platforms
to enable the project team to
make informed decisions.
• Non-graphic data: Specific
information including area
tabulations, equipment lists, and
similar data, to be extracted from
the model to inform project team
decision-making.
• Quality assurance: Procedures
to ensure the model contains the
information appropriate for the
design of the project.
• Technology infrastructure:
Hardware, software, and network
infrastructure required to execute
the plan and maintain the model.
Design Software
Our suite of design software includes
numerous interoperable applications
focused on our primary BIM authoring
application, Autodesk Revit. Additional
primary applications include Autodesk
AutoCAD Architecture, Autodesk 3ds
Max Design, Autodesk Navisworks
Manage, Autodesk Ecotect, Solibri,
Rhinoceros 3D, and SketchUp. We also
use a series of support applications
and “plug-ins” developed by third-
party vendors and our applications
developers.
Technology
