for the ramps at both bridge approaches. The bridges will facilitate pedestrian access to and from the Hard Rock Stadium which can hold up to
60,000 spectators. The bridge over NW 199th Street is 151’-11” long, while the other bridge over the Turnpike Access Road is 206’-11” long.
Both bridge superstructures are simple span, variable-depth walk-thru steel trusses that are 14’ wide. The substructures consist of pile bents
with 24” prestressed concrete piles. The bridges approach ramps consist of concrete walkways supported by wrap-around MSE walls. Stairs at
the ramp entrances were also provided to facilitate pedestrian access during sport events. Construction on this fast-track Design-Build project
began in mid-January 2019 and is scheduled for completion by the end of September 2019 - just in time for the onset of the NFL regular season
and five months before the stadium hosts Super Bowl LIV. Location: Miami-Dade County, FL.
Design of nine concrete segmental bridges for a four-level fully directional interchange of I-75, I-595, and the Sawgrass Expressway. At 550
acres, this is the largest interchange in Florida. Bridges included both single and twin boxes. Bridges ranged from just under 400 feet to almost
4000 feet in length. Maximum span length exceeded 200 feet. The combined length of the bridges exceeded two miles and bridge deck area
exceeded 600,000 square feet. Pier heights exceeded 60 feet. Project required a total of 1,366 full section 10-foot segments which were cast
on-site and then erected in balanced cantilever fashion. Mr. Hadrous was responsible for the design of all the segments for both the single and
twin box bridges including typical segments, CIP segments, and pier segments. Mr. Hadrous also designed the cantilever and suspended
expansion joint segments, the expansion joint hinge details, and longitudinal closure pours for the twin boxes. Mr. Hadrous was also
responsible for quality control reviews of the design and plans for the Piers for Bridge F2 (8 Spans, 1071 feet).
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief Scope, Size, Cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE [] Check if project performed with current firm
The Evans Crary Sr. Bridge has an overall length of approximately 2,982 feet with seventeen continuous spans and a maximum span length of
180 feet. The twin, precast segmental structures are 49’-4¼” wide and are separated by a 1’–6” gap. Each is wide enough to carry two traffic
lanes, two emergency lanes, a bicycle lane, and a pedestrian lane. Rising at a vertical grade of 5.2%, the bridge provides 65 feet vertical and
ninety feet horizontal clearance over the St. Lucie River and Piers were designed for Ship Impact. Box girders are a constant 8 feet in depth
and the bridges are continuous from end to end with no intermediate expansion joints. Mr. Hadrous was responsible for the original design and
detailing of the post-tensioned concrete box girders including typical segments, modified segments and cast-in place segments. He was also
responsible for the segment anchorage details, future post-tensioning details, bridge erection schedules, segment shear key details, and bridge
jacking details.
