REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS NO. 20-07-01
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES (CCNA)

TAB C: COVER LETTER AND EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

engineering and planning services will be funded through the Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Florida Inland Navigation
District (FIND), or other federal and state granting authorities. All federal and state regulations
pertaining to any grant related project shall apply.
Craven Thompson & Associates is currently under contract for a number of projects with
multiple clients. In 2019, Craven Thompson was at a company-wide utilization rate of 67%. The
business plan target composite utilization rate for the company is 75%. The targeted rate
accounts for holiday, vacation, marketing, administration, illness, and other non-billable time. We
employ a very small yet efficient number of administration personnel which contributes
significantly to reducing our costs.
Our projected workload is anticipated to be well below the 2019 level for the next twelve months
as a result of the pandemic. We should be at a company-wide utilization of approximately 50% at
that time. Our surveying, engineering and CEI staff is extremely underutilized at this time. After
that time (one year), assuming no new major projects are initiated, we anticipate that we will
improve slightly to roughly 55% utilization, still well below our capacity. Our surveyors, engineers,
and construction services personnel will be able to devote all necessary time to any projects
assigned by Sunny Isles Beach. Based on our current and projected workload, the City can be
assured that Craven Thompson will provide the staff as identified and the resources necessary to
complete the services on time and within the budget requirements.
Craven Thompson is willing to meet any location, budget, task orders or minority business
enterprise procurement goals if any are set. We commit that at all times during the term of the
Agreement we will maintain in good standing all required licenses, certifications and permits
required under federal, state and local laws necessary to perform the identified services. Craven
Thompson commits to perform the work in accordance with the terms of the proposal being
submitted.
Authorized Representative:
Patrick J. Gibney, P.E., Vice President, Engineering
Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc.
3563 NW 53rd Street
Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33309
Phone: (954) 739-6400
Email: pgibney@craventhompson.com
For over fifty-eight (58) years Craven Thompson has provided consulting services to governmental
agencies throughout South Florida. We have provided some or all of the following services to
numerous clients including: civil engineering, surveying, G.I.S., landscape architectural and
construction management/engineering inspection services.
We are a seventy-two (72) person corporation with offices in Fort Lauderdale and Delray Beach
with twenty-nine (29) civil engineers (14 are registered), three (3) professional surveyors and
mappers, six (6) field crews, and four (4) registered landscape architects.
C | Page 2
