STANDARD FORM 330 (REV. 8/2016) PAGE 27
RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS FOR
Continuing Professional Consulting Engineering Services-Environmental Engineering
#BID 20-07-01

INDOOR AIR QUALITY
The field of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) presents a cadre of potential challenges to both the provider of services as well as
the consumer. The lack of uniform regulations has resulted in a wide range of approaches to projects many of which
leave the consumer unprotected from potential liability. GBTS is excited to announce the development of a new line of
service in the field of mechanical and environmental consulting, remediation, and restoration – the Integrated Indoor
Air Quality and Mechanical Performance Evaluation (IAQ-MPE Assessment). This assessment was designed to evaluate
indoor conditions of concern and their impacts to indoor air quality, while simultaneously investigating the root causes
of the conditions as they relate to building mechanical systems and operation, providing detailed remediation scopes of
work, providing cost estimates and work plans for mechanical system repairs or modifications, and performing the
mechanical repairs. GBTS is also capable of facilitating Performance Contracting with several providers to minimize
capital expenditures for the customer. With over 30 years of experience, the utilization of in-house resources, and the
minimization of subcontracted services, GBTS stands as a leader in this field. These new services will increase our self-
performing, in-house, ability to offer clients a more comprehensive investigation, analysis, and recommendations in
order to achieve the results that they desire in the management of the indoor environment and maintenance of their
building systems.
In order to provide our clients the highest quality services, GBTS maintains a
full-time professional staff that includes certified NADCA ASCS Technicians
and Licensed General and Mechanical Contractors, as well as an IAQ team
that leads the industry, and includes Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH),
Certified Indoor Air Quality Professionals (CIAQP), Florida Licensed Mold
Assessors, Certified Mold Remediators (CMR), Certified Safety Professionals
(CSP), and industrial hygienists. At GBTS companies, we are committed to
working with our clients to provide the highest level of protection in the most
cost effective manner.
BASELINE INDOOR AIR QUALITY (IAQ) INVESTIGATIONS
 Complete Inspection of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems.
 Walk-Through Inspection for Potential Sources and Pathways of Poor Air Quality.
 Review of Current In-house HVAC Maintenance Programs.
 Collection of Thermal Comfort Parameters (Temperature and Relative Humidity).
 Evaluation of Fresh Air Entering the Building.
 Screening for Chemical Agents (e.g. Formaldehyde, TVOCs) as Appropriate.
 Monitoring for other Common Agents Associated with IAQ Complaints Including Airborne Mold and Bacteria,
Particulates, Carbon Dioxide, and Carbon Monoxide.
FORENSIC INVESTIGATIONS
 Interview with Building Occupants and Historical Review of Complaints.
 Inspection and Characterization of the Building and HVAC System.
 Visual Inspection of the Facility for Evidence of Microbiological Amplification or Water Damage.
 Measurement of Thermal Comfort Parameters (Temperature, Relative Humidity).
 Direct Reading for Carbon Monoxide.
 Determination of the Amount and Distribution of Fresh Air.
 Evaluation and Documentation of Operations, which may Impact, Air Quality.
 Determination of Pressure Differentials and Mapping of Air Flow Patterns.
 Identification of Moisture Content in Building Materials.
