engineering, geotechnical services, surveying services, meeting local Standards and Procedures,
and our understanding of the permitting process and regulatory requirements just to name a few.
This experience enables us to prepare project schedules that are complete and realistic. We have
a thorough understanding of the analysis, design process, local permitting requirements, and
construction means and methods. In addition, because of the numerous critical decisions and
coordination issues typical to any municipal project, SRS will contact and establish lines of
communication with the City of Sunny Isles Beach and all regulatory agencies involved to have a
clear understanding of their requirements, procedures and any other additional information. This
close contact will develop staff familiarity and most importantly, "buy-in”, with the plan prior to the
time of the formal submittals. A crucial component would be early identification of existing project
conditions, environmental requirements, permits, and the development of an improvement plan
that is realistic, feasible and adaptable to meet future needs.
Another important element to keeping assigned projects on schedule is establishing a quality
assurance program to ensure that the project is not delayed due to problems that may arise later
in the project. Our Project Manager will be responsible for assuring the quality of the work product
prepared by our team coupled with our QA/QC managers. The engineering process begins with
determining the requirements of the project, the City of Sunny Isles Beach, and the regulatory
agencies. Our staff then translates these inputs and criteria into the final design. Initial studies or
modeling that shall be started once we have a good understanding of the existing conditions,
current, and future needs. The quality of the design is ensured through a combination of
management controls and a comprehensive and detailed set of quality control reviews and checks
at various stages in the process. Finally, most important in assuring quality, is our knowledge of
the work to be done. At SRS we have completed several similar continuing services contracts by
the same proposed project managers and engineers, we are familiar with contract requirements,
we have the resources needed, and have good working relationships with the regulatory agencies.
The City of Sunny Isles Beach staff will not waste valuable time guiding our group. We
know how to do the job.
For each project we are assigned, our Team will prepare and submit for review and approval, a
project management control schedule, in Gantt Chart format, using MS Project software that will
incorporate all the work elements defined in the negotiated contract documents. Allowances for
City of Sunny Isles Beach review will likewise be involved as determined in final contract
negotiations. Once the work begins, our Sr. Project Manager will closely monitor the schedule and
adjust as the project circumstances dictate or as the City requires. Actual progress versus
established milestone deadlines will indicate performance. During regular Project Team meetings,
we will identify and discuss schedule variances and make appropriate adjustments. The overall
goal of the Team is to proactively identify scheduling issues and work cooperatively with the City
to determine the best solutions to avoid necessary changes or unanticipated problems.
10
