The purpose of the vibracore sampling operations and laboratory analysis was to verify the
quality and quantity of material remaining within an offshore borrow area which will be used for the Kure
Beach Storm Damage Reduction Project. For this effort, we collected 39 vibracores to 20’ which was
completed in May 2018.
e.
(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp Superfund Site
Jacksonville, Florida
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If
applicable)
2018
BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Mr. Simmons served as the captain on this project for American Vibracore Services (AVS), a marine division
of Amdrill Inc. As a former chemical site manufacturing fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides, environmental
and geotechnical investigations were necessary to delineate the nature and extent of site rel ated
compounds and evaluate risks associated with these compounds. Given the possible chemical, physical
and biological hazards associated with the field investigations, strictly adhering to established safety
protocols was mandatory. Our role was to conduct the geotechnical investigations by performing vibracoring
utilizing our Scully barge for these environmentally challenging core and grab samples, plus, performing
land borings.
f.
(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Vibracore Borings and Laboratory Testing
St. Johns County, Florida
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If
applicable)
2017
BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Mr. Simmons served as the captain on this project for American Vibracore Services (AVS), a marine division
of Amdrill Inc. For St. Johns County’s shore protection project in St. Augustine Beach, a sand search
investigation was performed by collecting vibracores within the proposed offshore borrow area. T he work
was performed within state waters, off the southeast coast of Florida, approximately 30 miles south of
Jacksonville and adjacent to the city of St. Augustine, Florida. Vibracore sampling occurred at two locations.
Twelve borings were collected on the eastern edge of the St. Augustine Inlet ebb shoal and twelve additional
borings were collected approximately 1 to 2 miles offshore of the town of Vilano Beach. Water depths in
these areas were approximately 30 to 60 feet.
g.
(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Lake Worth Lagoon Waterways
Town of Palm Beach, Florida
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If
applicable)
2017
BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Mr. Simmons served as the captain on this project for American Vibracore Services (AVS), a marine division
of Amdrill Inc. Vibracore sampling operations were conducted in the Lake Worth Lagoon intracoastal
waterway to determine the characteristics of collected sediments in support of a channel dredging project.
A shallow platform and vibracore equipment were used for the near shore operations. A total of 6 vibracores
to depths of -6 MLW or until refusal were collected to within 50 feet of the proposed locations. Sediments
sampled were split, logged, photographed, sampled and preserved.
