He provides in-house <br />quality control and quality assurance in the design and plan preparation <br />of highway and building structures, and roadway design for state and <br />local municipal agencies. <br />Mr. Canales has managed the structural design staff of major national <br />design consulting firms in Illinois, Virginia and Florida. He brings over <br />45 years of experience in bridge and retaining wall engineering and <br />plan preparation, calculation of construction quantities and special <br />provisions, construction supervision, bridge inspection and rating <br />analysis of steel, concrete and timber structures, and concrete box <br />culverts. Additionally, Mr. Canales has been responsible for the <br />preparation of the scope of work, man-hour estimates, negotiations, <br />scheduling and staffing for all transportation services contracts <br />including construction services. <br />BRIDGE DESIGN, INSPECTION AND CONSTRUCTION <br />Florida Department of Transportation- District Six. SR 826 (Palmetto Expressway) and SW 81 Street <br />(Tamiami Trail) Interchange, Miami, FL. Chief Engineer. Responsible for the review of the design and plan <br />preparation of seven bridges, one mile of noise walls and bulkheads and ten sign structures. Provided <br />engineering support during the post -design services, reviewed shop drawings and/or revision to the plans due <br />to unanticipated field conditions. <br />Florida Department of Transportation- District Six. SR 5 (US 1) over Bahia Honda. Project Manager <br />responsible for the special inspection, design and preparation of contract documents for the <br />rehabilitation/repairs of concrete columns and struts, corrosion monitor system and structural pile jackets. <br />Provided engineering support during the post -design services, reviewed shop drawings and/or revision to the <br />plans due to unanticipated field conditions. <br />Florida Department of Transportation- District Six. 1-395 Rehabilitation/Repairs Structures 870366, 870575, <br />870363 and 870582.
