'y"Y OF SUN Pt' <br />1.8.8 LAWN (St. AUGUSTINE) <br />Insects and fungus shall be controlled by both curative and preventative measures. <br />Spray all lawn areas, as required, for control of chinch bugs, army worms, sod <br />webworm, fungus, and other pests. Unless specifically approved by the City, only <br />liquid pesticide applications are to be used for chinch bug control. <br />1.8.9 TREES, SHRUBS AND GROUND COVER <br />Treat trees, shrubs and ground cover, as needed, with the most appropriate <br />selective pesticide for the targeted pests. Follow manufacturer's instructions for <br />application, using Integrated Pest Management Principles. It is the Contractor's <br />responsibility to perform monthly evaluations of all trees, shrubs and ground cover <br />and treat as needed to keep them healthy. <br />1.8.10 HERBICIDE APPLICATIONS <br />Contractor may use selective herbicide by means of spray type to aid in the control <br />of unwanted weeds and vegetation. All applications shall be performed by persons <br />holding a valid herbicide application license as issued by the State of Florida and <br />shall be done in accordance with herbicide manufacturer's recommended rates and <br />applicable Federal, State, County and Municipal regulations. <br />Contractor must only utilize herbicides registered by the EPA and the Florida <br />Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service's Bureau of Pesticides. The use <br />and application of any pesticides must comply with Chapter 487 of the Florida <br />Statutes and Chapter 5E-2 of the Florida Administrative Code. <br />The Contractor is required to obtain written approval as to the type, location and <br />method of applications from the City's Project Manager(s) prior to the use of any <br />herbicides. Any proposed changes in approved herbicide usage must be submitted <br />for the City's Project Manager's approval at least five (5) working days in advance <br />of the anticipated usage. The Contractor shall exercise extreme care so as not to <br />overspray and affect areas not intended for treatment. Areas adversely affected <br />by such overspray shall be the responsibility of the Contractor and all damaged <br />material shall be replaced, within one (1) week of the damage being noticed, at <br />the Contractor's expense. <br />Contractor must maintain records of all herbicide usage on a Contractor provided <br />form. This form must be filled out as weed control operations are performed, and <br />all entries must be available for inspection upon request from the City's Project <br />Manager(s). <br />NOTWITHSTANDING ANY LANGUAGE IN THIS CONTRACT, ALL CHEMICAL <br />APPLICATIONS SHALL REQUIRE WRITTEN APPROVAL BY THE CITY PRIOR TO <br />APPLICATION.
