CTA Project No. 19-0035-001-01 01400-1 Golden Shores Street Lighting <br />October 12, 2020 SIB Bid No. 20-09-01 <br />SECTION 01400 - TESTING AND QUALITY CONTROL <br /> <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 SAMPLING AND TESTING <br />A. Unless otherwise specified, all sampling and testing shall be in accordance with the <br />methods prescribed in the current standards of the ASTM, as applicable to the class and <br />nature of the article or materials considered; however, the CITY reserves the right to use <br />any generally-accepted system of sampling and testing which, in the opinion of the <br />ENGINEER will insure the CITY that the quality of the workmanship is in full accord with <br />the Contract Documents. <br />B. Any waiver by the CITY of any specific testing or other quality assurance measures, <br />whether or not such waiver is accompanied by a guarantee of substantial performance <br />as a relief from the specified testing or other quality assurance requirements as originally <br />specified, and whether or not such guarantee is accompanied by a performance bond to <br />assure execution of any necessary corrective or remedial Work, shall not be construed <br />as a waiver of any requirements of the Contract Documents. <br />C. Notwithstanding the existence of such waiver, the ENGINEER reserves the right to make <br />independent investigations and tests and failure of any portion of the Work to meet any <br />of the requirements of the Contract Do cuments, shall be reasonable cause for the <br />ENGINEER to require the removal or correction and reconstruction of any such work in <br />accordance with the General Conditions. <br />1.02 SITE INVESTIGATION AND CONTROL <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall verify all dimensions in the field and shall check field <br />conditions continuously during construction. The CONTRACTOR shall be solely <br />responsible for any inaccuracies built into the Work due to its failure to comply with this <br />requirement. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR shall inspect related and appurtenant Work and shall report in <br />writing to the ENGINEER any conditions which will prevent proper completion of the <br />Work. Failure to report any such conditions shall constitute acceptance of all site <br />conditions, and any required removal, repair, or rep lacement caused by unsuitable <br />conditions shall be performed by the CONTRACTOR within the scope of the Project. <br />1.03 INSPECTION AND TESTING <br />A. The CITY will employ and pay for the services of an independent testing laboratory <br />(TESTING LAB) for specified testing as specified by the ENGINEER. The Testing Lab <br />shall be designated by City from an approved vendors list. <br />B. The work or actions of the testing laboratory shall in no way relieve the CONTRACTOR <br />of his obligations under the Contract. The laboratory testing work will include such <br />inspections and testing required by the Contract Documents, existing laws, codes, <br />ordinances, etc. The testing laboratory will have no authority to change the requirements <br />of the Contract Documents, nor perform, accept or ap prove any of the CONTRACTOR's <br />Work. <br />C. The CONTRACTOR shall coordinate directly with the TESTING LAB and ENGINEER <br />allowing ample time and opportunity for inspection and testing materials and equipment <br />to be used in the Work.
