Exterior, Exposed: <br />1. Rigid galvanized steel. <br />C. Direct Earth Burial: PVC Schedule 40. <br />D. Concrete-Encased Raceways: PVC Schedule 40. <br />3.03 CONNECTIONS <br />A. Under Equipment Mounting Pads: Rigid galvanized steel conduit. <br />B. Exterior Light Pole Foundations: Schedule 40 PVC conduit. <br />3.04 PENETRATIONS <br />A. Make at right angles, unless otherwise shown. <br />B. Notching or penetration of structural members, including footings and beams, not <br />permitted. <br />C. Fire-Rated Walls, Floors, or Ceilings: Fire -stop openings around penetrations to maintain <br />fire-resistance rating. <br />D. Apply single layer of wraparound duct band to all metallic conduit in contact with <br />concrete floor slabs to a point 2 inches above concrete surface. <br />E. Concrete Walls, Floors, or Ceilings (Aboveground): Provide nonshrink grout dry -pack, or <br />use watertight seal device. <br />F. Entering Structures: <br />1. General: Seal raceway at the first box or outle t with minimum 2 inches thick <br />expandable plastic compound to prevent the entrance of gases or liquids from one <br />area to another. <br />2. Pullbox/Manholes: <br />a. Metallic Raceways: Provide insulated gro unding bushings. <br />b. Nonmetallic Raceways: Provide bell ends flush with wall. <br />c. Install such that raceways enter as near as possible to one end of wall, unless <br />otherwise shown. <br />3.05 SUPPORT <br />A. Support from structural members only, at intervals not exceed ing NFPA 70 <br />requirements, and in any case not exceeding 10 feet. Do not support from piping, pipe <br />supports, or other raceways. <br />B. Multiple Adjacent Raceways: Provide ceiling trapeze. For trapeze -supported conduit, <br />allow 40 percent extra space for future c onduit. <br />C. Provide and attach wall brackets, strap hangers, or ceiling trapeze as follows: <br />1. Wood: Wood screws. <br />2. Hollow Masonry Units: Toggle bolts.
