CTA Project No. 19-0035-001-01 16450-2 Golden Shores Street Lighting
October 12, 2020 SIB Bid No. 20-09-01
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 GENERAL
A. Grounding shall be in compliance with NFPA 70 and ANS I C2.
B. Ground electrical service neutral at service entrance equipment to supplementary
grounding electrodes.
C. Ground each separately derived system neutral to nearest effectively grounded building
structural steel member or separate grounding electrode.
D. Bond together system neutrals, service equipment enclosures, exposed non-current-
carrying metal parts of electrical equipment, metal raceways, ground conductor in
raceways and cables, receptacle ground connections, and metal piping systems.
E. Shielded Power Cables: Ground shields at each splice or termination in accordance with
recommendations of splice or termination manufacturer.
F. Shielded Control Cables:
1. Ground shield to ground bus at power supply for analog signal.
2. Expose shield minimum I inch at termination to field instrument and apply heat
shrink tube.
3. Do not ground control cable shield at more than one point.
3.02 WIRE CONNECTIONS
A. Ground Conductors: Install in conduit containing power conductors and control circuits
above 50 volts.
B. Nonmetallic Raceways and Flexible Tubing: Install an equipment grounding conductor
connected at both ends to non current -carrying grounding bus.
C. Connect ground conductors to raceway grounding bushings.
D. Extend and connect ground co nductors to ground bus in all equipment containing a
ground bus.
E. Connect enclosure of equipment containing ground bus to that bus.
F. Bolt connections to equipment ground bus.
G. Bond grounding conductors to metallic enclosures at each end, and to in termediate
metallic enclosures.
H. Junction Boxes: Furnish materials and connect to equipment grounding system with
grounding clips mounted directly on box, or with 3/8 -inch machine screws.
3.03 GROUND RODS
A. Install full length with conductor connect ion at upper end.
B. Install with connection point below finished grade, unless otherwise shown.
3.04 CONNECTIONS
A. General:
1. Above grade Connections: Use either exothermic weld or mechanical -type
connectors.
