BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost)
Several Town locations experienced severe flooding during a June 2017 storm event. The
Town has identified these locations in their GIS mapping system. This scope of work intends
to address the area west of Hiatus Road, within the Little Country Estates and Grove Estates,
where the Town has identified the need for stormwater improvements.
The area west of Hiatus Road (Little Country Estates and Grove Estates) experienced major
flooding during a June 2017 storm event. The land use in the subject area is all single family
with estate (1 du / acre) size lots. The area is drained by Central Broward Water Control
District (CBWCD) canals N-20 adjacent to SW 118th Avenue and the N-26 adjacent to SW 26th
Street and Hiatus Road.
The scope of work includes field reviews, data collection, drainage analysis and report, plans
preparation, estimates of probable costs, progress meetings, permitting, and bid assistance.
Based on the field visits, information received from the Town (flooding area map) and from
CBWCD (previous studies, as-built plans and
discussions with CBWCD personnel), a drainage
basin map was created for each existing catch
basin. The existing drainage system was modeled
for the 3-year storm event (CBWCD criteria for
pipe sizing). Our findings showed that eh existing
system was inadequate. Based on the available
budget for improvements, RJ Behar developed
several alternatives to improve the flooding
conditions.
Cost/Fees Paid: $28,100 │Construction Cost: TBD
Key Personnel: Juan H. Vazquez, PE, PH, BCEE – Principal in Charge │Hans Murzi, PE – Project Manager │ Kira Leon, PE –
Project Engineer │Hector Rosario, EI – Project Engineer.
25.
