Bridge Architecture
and Landscape Architecture
Savino & Miller Design Studio began in 1985 with
the partnership as a collaborative approach between
architecture and landscape architecture in the
creation of outdoor spaces. Their qualifications include
landscape architecture, planning, urban renewal,
lighting, public facilities, recreational facilities, and
sustainable design.
SMDS’s mission is to improve the quality of life
through design, and understanding of the interaction
of the urban with the natural world. As shapers of the
spatial environment, they hope to create meaningful
experiences and joy in our shared communal lives and
private moments of solitude as people interact with
spaces. The focus is to design spaces that reflect their
location and intention and desire of those who will use
them.
SMDS has a comprehensive understanding of South
Florida’s natural, human, and cultural ecology and
the challenges of climate change, resiliency, and
sustainability impacting the area. These challenges
demand flexibility and a multidisciplinary approach
to create solutions. As important to the approach is
the role that the community and stakeholders play on
public projects. Therefore, Savino & Miller believes that
including the community is vital in activating the public
realm.
