13
PEDELTA
The pedestrian bridge will be designed to add a distinctive visual element with a clear identity and landmark
quality to The City of Sunny Isles Beach.
Aesthetic enhancement
The bridge is designed with the goal of having a pleasant overcrossing transition to Samson Ocean Front Park
and the beach. The bridge design consists of one tied stainless-steel arch bridge. The bridge spans over Collins
Ave. lining up to culminate into a panoramic platform centered on the sea view.
The bridge is supported by a single stainless-steel arch rib inclining at 18° to provide a slender, transparent and
elegant impression. The arch positioned on the north side of the deck expressing a modern, understated, and
elegant aesthetic. The innovative bridges is based on our company's aesthetic philosophy of "Complex
Simplicity".
Design and Construction Approach
Pedelta's proposal is based on the use of stainless-steel on the entire structure. This use of a forefront
technology provides premium aesthetics within a unique setting in addition to a safe and durable asset for the
community. The structure has an extended life cycle, is more corrosion -resistant, and requires less
maintenance, reducing its overall cost.
The design has been focused on both structural efficiency and pleasing
proportioning of the geometry, resulting in a span -to -rise ratio of around 6 and
a span -to -arch depth ratio of around 100. Bridge uses trapezoidal cross-
sections for the girders that make up the deck and triangular cross-sections for
the arch ribs.
The bridges are designed to add a distinctive visual element with clear vistas to
Samson Park and the Ocean by creating a new iconic presence in the city skyline.
To accommodate seatings a curved landing east platform gracefully connected
to the bridge has been designed to accommodate a resting/relaxing shaded area opened to the ocean view.
City of Sunny Isles Beach
Request for Qualifications No. 20-10-01
18-
