C. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
PEDELTA
This Executive Summary provides you with key reasons why our team is the most qualified to serve your project
needs and what our team of professionals offers to the City of Sunny Isles. The following sections describe our
capabilities and resources to commit to your goals. Our organizational chart shows that we understand the
importance of teamwork, staff capacity, and making the most of our key specialties to support our local
resources.
Pedelta Team is enthusiastic to present the Owner with a design concept that will represent a significant symbol
of innovation and city -building for the City of Sunny Isles. The Pedestrian Bridge will be designed by the same
team that successfully completed six stainless-steel bridges and that brings a strong FDOT experience to this
project. This pioneer use of a forefront technology will provide premium aesthetics within a unique setting and
a safe and durable asset for the community.
The design concept incorporates the following core ideas
Efficiency and Economy ► depending primarily on the structural concept, emphasizing simplicity, minimum
number of components and minimum dimensions. Elegance is a more subtle factor, related to the size, shape,
proportion, transparency and harmony between the bridge's components and surroundings, among other
qualities. The proposed design is based on an aesthetic philosophy of "complex simplicity", a contemporary
interpretation of a classic structure type utilizing order, rhythm, a clear hierarchy amongst elements and the
refinement of details to express the flow of forces ("we love what we understand").
Context Sensitivity ► A context sensitive design is critical in this special urban setting, adjoining a the Samson
Oceanfront Park and high-profile buildings— the design combines a traditional structural type with a distinctive
contemporary expression that will give a clear and unique identity to the bridge, scaled and proportioned to fit
within the existing landscape.
City of Sunny Isles Beach
Request for Qualifications No. 20-10-01
Sustainability and Extended Service Life ► The proposed design
minimizes the amount of materials to be used, an under -
recognized sustainability strategy, and utilizes Duplex Stainless
Steel that achieves a long service life and will require very little
maintenance. The use of Stainless Steel is one of the materials of
choice in warm aggressive marine/oceanfront environments
and reduces the overall cost to the ownership.
Constructability ► The proposed structure is lightweight and
uses prefabricated components, which are maximized to expedite
construction. In addition, all foundations have been placed out of
the utility corridors. Foundations consists of cast -in-place
concrete shafts or auger cast.
-3-
