EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br />PEDELTA <br />This Executive Summary provides you with key reasons why our team is the most qualified to serve your project <br />needs and what our team of professionals offers to the City of Sunny Isles. The following sections describe our <br />capabilities and resources to commit to your goals. Our organizational chart shows that we understand the <br />importance of teamwork, staff capacity, and making the most of our key specialties to support our local <br />resources. <br />Pedelta Team is enthusiastic to present the Owner with a design concept that will represent a significant symbol <br />of innovation and city -building for the City of Sunny Isles. The Pedestrian Bridge will be designed by the same <br />team that successfully completed six stainless-steel bridges and that brings a strong FDOT experience to this <br />project. This pioneer use of a forefront technology will provide premium aesthetics within a unique setting and <br />a safe and durable asset for the community. <br />The design concept incorporates the following core ideas <br />Efficiency and Economy ► depending primarily on the structural concept, emphasizing simplicity, minimum <br />number of components and minimum dimensions. Elegance is a more subtle factor, related to the size, shape, <br />proportion, transparency and harmony between the bridge's components and surroundings, among other <br />qualities. The proposed design is based on an aesthetic philosophy of "complex simplicity", a contemporary <br />interpretation of a classic structure type utilizing order, rhythm, a clear hierarchy amongst elements and the <br />refinement of details to express the flow of forces ("we love what we understand"). <br />Context Sensitivity ► A context sensitive design is critical in this special urban setting, adjoining a the Samson <br />Oceanfront Park and high-profile buildings— the design combines a traditional structural type with a distinctive <br />contemporary expression that will give a clear and unique identity to the bridge, scaled and proportioned to fit <br />within the existing landscape. <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />Request for Qualifications No. 20-10-01 <br />Sustainability and Extended Service Life ► The proposed design <br />minimizes the amount of materials to be used, an under - <br />recognized sustainability strategy, and utilizes Duplex Stainless <br />Steel that achieves a long service life and will require very little <br />maintenance. The use of Stainless Steel is one of the materials of <br />choice in warm aggressive marine/oceanfront environments <br />and reduces the overall cost to the ownership. <br />Constructability ► The proposed structure is lightweight and <br />uses prefabricated components, which are maximized to expedite <br />construction. In addition, all foundations have been placed out of <br />the utility corridors. Foundations consists of cast -in-place <br />concrete shafts or auger cast. <br />-3- <br />
