Russo, City Manager <br />Fabricio Volpi, Public Works Superintendent <br />May 20, 2021 <br />Request for Purchase Approval of Additional Equipment for the City's <br />Bucket Truck <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff is recommending approval of this Resolution. <br />REASONS: <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to purchase an articulating telescopic aerial device <br />vehicle (aka 'bucket truck') from Altec Industries, Inc., using Sourcewell (formerly NJPA) <br />Contract #012418-Alt. Pursuant to the City's procurement code provisions, purchases made <br />under State, County or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with other entities, <br />are exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures. <br />This purchase was passed via Resolution 2021-3155 on January 21, 2021. However, upon <br />further research of this vehicle, for an additional amount of $824.00 the vehicle could be <br />equipped with H Frame Outriggers. This additional equipment (aka 'Outriggers') work to keep <br />a vehicle from tipping even when it is unbalanced. By providing external support, properly <br />positioned outriggers prevent an unbalancing shift of weight. <br />The additional cost in the amount of $824.00 will bring the total cost for the vehicle and <br />delivery is in the amount of $128,655.00. <br />FUNDING SOURCE: <br />Funds have been appropriated in account no. 110-5-5410-464200-00000. <br />Item Number: 10.1) <br />
