r <br />Contract for Professional Services <br />THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into the 19t" day of June, 2019 by and between the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach, a Florida municipal corporation ("CITY") and Ronald L. Book, Esquire ("BOOK'% an attorney and member of the <br />Florida Bar, doing business as Ronald L. sonic, P.A. <br />THE PARTIES HERETO DO COVENANTAND AGREE AS FOLLOWS: <br />PURPOSE • <br />The purpose of this Agreement Is to provide for the CITY to retain the professional services of BOOK for coordination of <br />the City's legislative relations and for lobbying requirements, as described in paragraph II herein below. <br />II. SERVICES <br />BOOK shall provide all necessary legislative relations and lobbying services In any jurisdiction to the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach, including advising the City Attorneyof any new legislation that may affect the City. Such services shall include work <br />for the purposes of securing funds and grants for various purposes from State, Federal and other sources, promoting <br />Intergovernmental cooperation In achieving CITY's objective, securing funds and grants for parks and recreation purposes, <br />crime prevention, economic development, tourism, beautiffcation, traffic and streetscape improvement, beach <br />renourlshment and other purposes, BOOK shall regularly report the status of his efforts to the City Manager and/or City <br />Attorney. <br />III. COMPENSATION <br />For all professional services provided by BOOK hereunder as described in paragraph II, the CITY shall pay BOOK annual <br />compensation of SlxtyFlve Thousand and No/100 ($65,000.00) Dollars for the period of July 1, 2D19 through June 30, <br />2020, The City Manager may choose to extend this agreement for an additional year at the same contract price. <br />IV. . EFFECTIVE DATE, DURATION <br />This revised agreement shall be effective the ilk day of July, 2019 and shall be effective through June 30, 2020 subject to <br />renewal upon such terms as the parties mutually agree. <br />V. TERMINATION <br />Either party hereto, at Its discretion, may terminate this contract at any time upon thirty (3o) days advance written notice <br />to the other. In the event of such termination, the CITY shall be obligated for casts incurred prior to the termination notice. <br />VI, PRIORITY <br />1 BOOK shall npt be prohibited from representing or providing the like services to other persons and entities besides CITY, <br />so long as BOCK shall avoid any representation or reiatlon which would create al conflict of interest, as determined by the <br />City Attorneyland City Manager. Further, BOOK shall not take on any client or m��tter that would jeopardize BOOK's ability <br />to devote time, resources and effort necessary to fulfill to CITY hereunder. <br />Attachment "A" <br />
