RESOLUTION NO.2014- `z ;s8 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE NAMING OF A PARK BENCH IN HERITAGE PARK AS THE "FRED CHOUINARD PARK BENCH" IN HONOR AND APPRECIATION OF HIS DEDICATION TO THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO PLACE SIGNAGE COMMENSURATE WITH THIS DISTINCTION ON SAID PARK BENCH; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Fred Chouinard, a great friend of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, has passed away peacefully; and WHEREAS, Fred Chouinard, owner of the Sunny Isles Beach Fort Apache Marina, was always willing to assist in any way he could for this community; and WHEREAS, recently Fred and his wife Jacqueline Chouinard supported the Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K -8 through a large donation to the Sunny Isles Beach K -8 School Trust Fund knowing that public education opportunities are important to the community; and WHEREAS, the City Commission would like to honor Fred for his dedication to the City by naming a park bench in Heritage Park as the "Fred Chouinard Park Bench ". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Naming of Park Bench. The City Commission hereby names a park bench in Heritage Park as the "Fred Chouinard Park Bench" in honor and appreciation of Fred Chouinard's dedication to the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Section 2. Directive to City Manager. The City Commission hereby directs the City Manager or his designee to place signage commensurate with this distinction on said park bench. Sectio►1 3.
