RESOLUTION NO. 2021- 00 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION RUN-OFF WHICH WAS <br />HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2021, DECLARING DANA ROBIN GOLDMAN TO BE <br />ELECTED AS MAYOR; DISCHARGING THE CANVASSING BOARD FOR THE SPECIAL <br />ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") held a Special Election on Tuesday, November <br />2nd, 2021, and a subsequent run-off election on November 161h, 2021, to fill the vacancy of mayor; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2021-3223 designated Gloria Taft to be the registered voter to <br />serve on the Canvassing Board, along with City Manager Christopher J. Russo and City Clerk <br />Mauricio Betancur, whom served as the Chairperson; and <br />WHEREAS, the Canvassing Board met on November 19, 2021, and proceeded to publicly <br />canvass the votes cast for the candidates in the Run -Off Special Election, and certified the results.; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Dana Goldman was sworn -in by the City Clerk on Friday, November 19th, 2021, and <br />formerly entered into the discharge of her duties. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Acceptance of Results of Special Election. The City Commission of the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach hereby accepts the results of the Run -Off Special Election held on November 16th <br />2021, as follows: <br />For Mayor, the whole number of votes cast was 2,071, of which number <br />Dana Goldman received 1,050 votes or 50.70% of the votes <br />Larisa "Laura" Svechin received 1,021 votes or 49.30% of the votes <br />Section 2. Discharge of the Canvassing Board. The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach hereby discharges Gloria Taft, Member; City Manager Christopher J. Russo, Member; and <br />City Clerk Mauricio Betancur, Chairperson, as the City of Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for <br />the Special Election and its Run -Off Election. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
