RESOLUTION NO. 2022 - 52-62— <br />A <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROLACTOF 1984TO EXPEND PARTIAL FORFEITURE <br />FUNDS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ("DOJ") FOR CORPORAL <br />ASSESSMENT, RECORDS MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE, AND ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE <br />AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES RELATED TO THE LICENSE PLATE READERS AND <br />CCN CAMERAS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR HUNDRED ONE <br />THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED NINETY-THREE DOLLARS AND THIRTY CENTS <br />($401,293.30); PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach ("City") and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds <br />from the established Department of Justice ("DOJ") federal forfeiture account, for the approved <br />programs or purchases intended to enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and Florida <br />Statutes §932.7055(5)(b) upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a <br />municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification <br />that the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request to expend DOJ forfeiture funds in <br />compliance with the aforementioned legal requirements for police corporal assessment, records <br />management software, and additional software and maintenance services related to the license <br />plate readers CCTV cameras, in an amount not to exceed Four Hundred One Thousand Two <br />Hundred Ninety -Three Dollars and Thirty Cents ($401,293.30). <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached <br />certification, the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to Four Hundred One Thousand <br />Two Hundred Ninety -Three Dollars and Thirty Cents ($401,293.30) from the established <br />Department of Justice federal forfeitures account for police corporal assessment, records <br />management software, and additional software and maintenance services related to the license <br />plate readers CCTV cameras. <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
