RESOLUTION NO. 2022- .33z0 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING APPOINTMENTS TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />BOARD FOR CALENDAR YEARS 2022 AND 2023; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 171 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />("City") creates a Historic Preservation Board (the "Board"), which is vested with power, <br />authority and jurisdiction to designate, regulate and administer historical, cultural, <br />archeological and architectural resources in the City, subject to the consent of the City <br />Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board provides recommendations to the City Commission regarding the <br />designation of historic properties within the boundaries of the City; and <br />WHEREAS, Board members are appointed for a two-year term; and <br />WHEREAS, each member of the Commission shall appoint one member, with the <br />Mayor's appointee to serve as the Chairperson, and the other two (2) appointments to be <br />appointed at -large, for a total of seven (7) members; and <br />WHEREAS, Board members shall be governed by the Rules of Procedure that govern the <br />City Commission, the Florida Sunshine and Public Records Laws, and the terms of this <br />Resolution. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Appointment of Board Members. Each member of the Commission shall <br />appoint one member, with the Mayor's appointee to serve as the Chairperson, and the other <br />two (2) appointments to be appointed at -large, for a total of seven (7) members. Additionally: <br />(a) No person shall serve as Chairperson of more than two (2) Boards/Committees. <br />(b) No person shall serve on more than two (2) Boards/Committees. <br />(c) Should any appointee resign during the term of the Board, the Commission, by <br />majority vote, shall select another appointee to fill that vacancy. <br />(d) Members shall be appointed to serve for a two-year term, but that term may be <br />renewed as often as desirable. <br />(e) Attendance Policy: The City's attendance policy for members of boards and <br />committees provide that, if a member fails to attend three (3) duly noticed <br />@BCL@7CO247C4.doc Page 1 of 3 <br />
