F FG3g 4
t Tr aF suEA hyo
City of Sunny Isles Beach
18070 Collins Avenue
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160
(305) 947-0606 City Hall
(305) 949-3113 Fax
MEMORANDUM
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners
VIA: Stan Morris, City Manager
FROM: Rick Labinsky, P.E., City Engineer
DATE: May 19, 2022
RE: Approval of Second Amendment to Agreement with Craig A. Smith for the
Central Island Stormwater Project
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The City of Sunny Isles Beach desires and Consultant agrees, to revise Section 6 of the Agreemen
titled "Term", from 180 days to 2 years to extend the contract to project completion. Coordination
with the North Miami Beach water project to mitigate disruption to the community twice caused a
worthwhile delay. There is no additional funding required for approval of this item.
This is the area of our City North of 174th St. to 183rd St. in the Central Island area. Over the year
there have been several attempts to accelerate the removal of storm water to eliminate any flooding
in this section of our City. To date these attempts, have not resolved the problem. We have engaged
Craig A. Smith, the same Engineering Firm that successfully completed the Stormwater Project of
174th St. approximately five years ago. The plans will include the installation of stormwater pumps in
this area, utilizing a similar type of system as we have in Golden Shores.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds have been appropriated in account no. 300-5-5410-465000-83003.
ATTACHMENTS:
Resolution
Second Amendment
Item Number: 10.1
305
