CfrT OF S01A h G
City of Sunny Isles Beach
18070 Collins Avenue
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160
(305) 947-0606 City Hall
(305) 949-3113 Fax
MEMORANDUM
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners
VIA: Stan Morris, City Manager
FROM: Susan Simpson, Deputy City Manager
DATE: June 16, 2022
RE: Terminating the Local Agency Program Agreement with the State of Floridz
Department of Transportation for Grant Funding for the Pedestrian Overpass
Bridge
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
In September 2020, the City entered into a Local Agency Program Agreement with the State of Florid
Department of Transportation to provide grant funding for the proposed pedestrian overpass bridge
at Collins Avenue and AIA in the amount of $500,000.00.
To date, no grant funds have been received by the City for this project.
During the budget preparation discussions, the City Commission has determined that the proposed
Pedestrian Bridge would not produce the beneficial results commensurate with the further
expenditure of funds. FDOT requires that we take action to move this project forward or terminate
the agreement. Without clear direction to move forward, staff recommends the termination of this
agreement.
FUNDING SOURCE:
No funding required for approval of this item.
ATTACHMENTS:
Resolution
Item Number: 10.1
147
