City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />18070 Collins Avenue <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 <br />(305) 947-0606 City Hall <br />(305) 949-3113 Fax <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners <br />VIA: Stan Morris, City Manager <br />FROM: Audra Curts-Whann, Assistant City Manager <br />DATE: October 20, 2022 <br />RE: Ratifying an Agreement with IAM Electric, Inc. for Emergency Street Ligh <br />Repairs <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of this Resolution. <br />REASONS: <br />The street light poles on Collins Avenue were found to have immediate life safety issues as a result of <br />the type of transformers that were utilized during the installation of the decorative lighting <br />improvements along Collins Avenue (the "Project") <br />In the interest of public safety, including the protection of life and property, and to mitigate against <br />any potential delays that could occur as a result of supply chain issues, the City took immediate action <br />and purchased the transformers, wire/cables, and electrical components necessary to effectuate the <br />emergency repairs. <br />At this time, City staff recommends approval to ratify the following Agreement: <br />• IAM Electric (PO # 22-01449 and PO # 112-01305) in a combined amount NTE $67,410. IAI <br />Electric was issued a contract for $17,640 to identify and remove the 126 transformers that <br />were causing the immediate danger to life and property. Additionally, IAM Electric quoted <br />$49,770 to service and install 126 new 120 V outdoor transformers, wire/cables, and electrical <br />components necessary to effectuate the emergency repairs. The City is requesting to waive the <br />competitive bidding procedures for the installation. Note, historically, IAM Electric has beer <br />awarded projects in the City pursuant to competitive quotes via the City's informal competitive <br />Item Number: 10.K <br />
