Hines, City Clerk <br />Resolution Accepting the Results of the Special Election Held on November 4, <br />2008 to Consider Proposed Amendments to the City Charter <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />It is requested that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the results of <br />the Special Election held on November 4, 2008. <br />REASONS: <br />The Miami -Dade Department of Elections acted as the Canvassing Board for the Special <br />Election held on November 4, 2008, and has issued the official results on the following proposed <br />amendments to our Charter: <br />1) Permission to Redraw Residential Voting Areas by Ordinance Due to Increase in Population; <br />Shall the above described amendment be adopted? Yes 3,362 votes; No 1,308 votes. <br />2) Convert the At -Large Commissioner Seat to a Residential Voting Area Commissioner Seat; <br />Shall the above described amendment be adopted? Yes 3,416 votes; No 1,113 votes. <br />3) Changing the Election Dates by holding general elections in even -numbered years in <br />November in conjunction with elections held by Miami -Dade County, and that the terms of <br />all currently sitting elected officials be extended to accomplish this goal: <br />Shall the above described amendment be adopted?
