RESOLUTION NO. 2023 -� <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING AN IN-KIND DONATION TO THE NORTH MIAMI BEACH <br />LITTLE LEAGUE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS <br />($10,000.00) FOR USE OF THE CHIEF FRED MAAS BASEBALL FIELD TO PROVIDE A <br />RECREATIONAL BASEBALL PROGRAM FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2023; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") is committed to providing a variety of <br />quality recreational opportunities to our community; and <br />WHEREAS, North Miami Beach Little League is a non-profit organization that provides a <br />youth baseball program to the residents of the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City relies upon the North Miami Beach Little League for its resident to <br />participate in youth baseball because there are an insufficient number of resident participants <br />for the City to operate its own league; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Miami Beach Little League and the City are dedicated to activities <br />that benefit the children of the Sunny Isles Beach community; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Miami Beach Little League organization has requested use of the <br />Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field to provide a recreational baseball program including the annual <br />Challenger Program which is a short off-season baseball program that provides the opportunity <br />for disabled players to partner with volunteer players to play baseball in a fun and safe <br />environment, including City residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is dedicated to supporting these activities with <br />an in-kind donation for the use of the field, as well as City personnel to assist in these sport <br />activities, in an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) based on their <br />requested schedule for calendar year 2023. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval of Donation. The City Commission hereby approves the in-kind <br />donation to the North Miami Beach Little League for use of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field <br />located at Pelican Community Park, and City personnel assisting in these sport activities, in an <br />amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) based on their requested schedule <br />for calendar year 2023. <br />Section 2.
