QUALIFICATIONS
SUBCONSULTANTS E SCIENCES
Overseas Highway
Client
HDR Engineering
for the Florida Department of Transportation District Sic
Project Dates
July 2012- Ongoing
County
Monroe
Description
E Sciences, Incorporated (E Sciences), as a suboonsultant to HDR Engineering, Inc., is providing assistance
with the environmental, drainage and permitting services required on the Overseas Highway roadway
improvements from north of Old SR-4A/MM 77.5 to Jerome Avenue/MM 81.41 located in Monroe County,
Florida.
E Sciences conducted the wetland and listed species survey for the project corridor. Mangroves, forested area
and beach are located adjacent to the project corridor and portions of the corridor cross over or are adjacent to
waters of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary ( FKNMS). These waters are designated as an
Outstanding Florida Water (OFW), and as such are afforded special projection. Numerous protected species
utilize the FKNMS upland and offshore habitats in the project vicinity. Due to the nature of the project (i.e.,
milling and resurfacing; addition of bike lanes in uplands; restoration of existing bike paths; pavement
markings), no direct wetland or fisted species impacts are expected as a result of the project However, special
attention to the surface water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) and erosion control plan (ECP) will be
required to ensure impacts to the FKNMS are avoided.
E Sciences is working with the project engineer to avoid wetland impacts. This includes providing specific
items, such as dearly delineating areas which cannot be used for storage of equipment or materials; and
instructions for preventing any materials from bridge work falling into the water to ensure inadvertent impacts do
not occur.
._
SCe"C M I Re. 8i A-14
F -001 U6 0va:eds Hyh,,, Ir 008-1 QC I:
3a....
- .
MYE _ -
a -
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES I RFO NO. 14 -07-02
62
