f`
Architectural, Landscape Architectural,
Engineering and Land Surveying Firms Only (CCNA)
RFO No. 14 -07 -02
documents, utility coordination, permitting, opinions of probable construction cost, bidding assistance and construction phase
services that include attendance at project meetings to assess the project schedule and contractor progress, review of shop
drawings for conformance with the contract documents, contract administration such as review of applications for payment,
interpretations and clarifications of the contract documents, onsite observations to observe contractor performance, project
close -out to confirm the contractor had fulfilled all contract obligations, and review of project record drawings. The project
required close coordination with the FDOT during design and was completed successfully on a compressed schedule as to
not impact the FOOT bridge rehabilitation program.
General Civil Engineering Consultant, Bay Harbor Islands, FL
Kimley -Horn provides general civil engineering consulting services for the Town of Bay Harbor Islands on an ongoing basis.
Services have included a force main study, a water quality parameters study, groundwater monitoring for underground fuel tank
contamination, pump station, and utility improvements. Specific projects included:
Master Wastewater Pump Station Rehabilitation. Prepared construction
documents and associated permits for the rehabilitation of the Town's master
wastewater pump station. The design included working closely with Town staff to
understand the existing operating parameters of the station and then implement
the proposed capacity to address Town growth. Kimley -Horn was able to use the
Wastewater Flow Capacity Study and the Force Main Report prepared for the Town
during the analysis of the pump station improvements. Our understanding of the
Town's wastewater system allowed us to quickly and efficiently design the pump
station improvements. Coordination was also required with the City of Miami Beach
so that the Town's wastewater would efficiently pump into the City's system.
This project included extensive electrical design to improve pump operation and
reduce operating and maintenance costs. New electrical equipment was designed
and installed to bring the Town's Master Wastewater Pump Station into compliance
with state and local codes.
® A critical aspect of the design and construction phase was associated with transferring from the old electrical equipment to
® the new. Careful planning was required so that the station could be off line for the conversions while not impacting the Town
wastewater service. Contingency plans were in place to account for potential construction delays. The installation and timing
® was very successful with no impacts to the Town.
Design, bidding, and construction phase services were provide by Kimley -Horn. The project was successfully completed on
time and under budget. The pump station has been operating very effectively, operation and maintenance costs have been
reduced, and the station has additional capacity for future Town growth.
Force Main Replacement Program. Project design included installation of a C -900 PVC force main, ultrasonic flow meter,
connection to master wastewater pump station, and the installation of a check valve in close proximity to the receiving force
main system located in Miami Beach.
This project was required because of the age and condition of the existing force main and previous force main failures.
FiC 1e -0i C'+
OY?50021.1 - -05 :y ls3eac.
