The scope of this project included the development of a new <br />sign that would embody the character of the community while being sensitive to the <br />budget. Through a series of public meetings and concept development a new sign emerged <br />to reflect this established community and its history. <br />Suncoast CDD, Meadow Brook Drive Landscape Renovations, Pasco County, FL - The <br />Suncoast Community Development District contracted with Johnson Engineering's <br />landscape team to design the replacement of existing turf grass within the County Right Of <br />Way along the community's main entry road with a Florida Friendly and aesthetically <br />pleasing landscape treatment The design required consideration of the roadway landscape <br />restrictions which limited the plant selections to grasses and groundcover to avoid <br />frangibility concerns of trees within the roadway corridor. The final landscape design <br />consists of the removal of the turf within the verge and replacement with plant materials <br />arranged in sweeping masses to provide a sense of vertical and horizontal transition while <br />creating a manageable and pleasing visual entry aesthetic <br />South Biscayne Drive Median Landscape Renovations, City of North Port, FL - This <br />landscaping project of 1.5 miles of roadway median renovation is located within the Right - <br />of -Way (ROW) of South Biscayne Drive within in the City of North Port. The outdated <br />landscape medians consisted of mainly of Cabbage Palms that were well beyond their peak <br />of maturity. This renovation was the City's response to the surrounding residential <br />community's desire to improve the neighborhoods main roadway character. The final <br />design will include a diverse plant palette of drought tolerant Florida Friendly plantings to <br />reflect the character of the community and ensure durability, sustainability, and reduced <br />maintenance requirements. Sustainable practices will include hydrant supplemented low <br />volume irrigation, soil amendments with compost and water absorbing polymers to insure <br />plant health and the removal of all turf areas to reduce maintenance effort and costs. <br />Bee Ridge Road Improvements, Sarasota County, FL - Lead landscape architect for two <br />miles of county road improvements located on the east side of Interstate 753he project <br />consists of two -lane to a four -lane road widening, intersection conversions to roundabouts <br />(four total), Low Impact Development (LID) storm water management system including <br />storm water harvesting for irrigation, mufti -modal trail system, Florida native and Florida - <br />Friendly landscaping for final design and construction documents. The design of the <br />streetscape corridor merged the resources of Sarasota County with the County's vision for <br />a gateway to Sarasota County while implementing sustainable design trough LID <br />techniques. <br />West Villages Improvement District, North Port, FL (2009) - Lead landscape architect <br />for a 2.6 -mile thoroughfare for newly developed Village Land Use Classification. 'The <br />Parkway" provides for regional connections in rural areas. It is proposed as a two -lane <br />divided road, and designed to accommodate four lanes in the future. Major components <br />include interconnecting of all neighborhood and village networks, incorporation of n i- <br />modal facilities, and traffic calming measures.
