We will serve the City of Sunny Isles Beach
as a seamless extension of your staff. We understand the
City will issue a project - specific Task Order /City Purchase
Order for each project. While our approach to the various
consulting services will be customized to each specific
project, we have provided examples of approaches for each
of the categories: Engineering, Surveying, and Landscape
Architecture.
ENGINEERING
The following general engineering design approach is
presented to demonstrate the phases of a typical design
project and the approach our Engineering Design Team will
utilize to carry out a task order request. The phases are as
follows: Phase I - Project Initialization; Phase II - Engineering
Analyses and Evaluation; Phase III - Detailed Design; Phase
IV — Approvals; PhaseV - Services During Construction; and
PhaseV) - Post - Construction Services.
Phase I - Project Initialization
Defining the Work
We will begin with the development of a clear understanding
of the project needs and an accurate definition of the
work to be performed. This will be accomplished through
consultation with the appropriate City staff to gain insight
into the necessity, background, available resources, and tasks
to ensure clarity in regards to the work, the schedule, and
the budget. The effort to define the scope of the task will be
commensurate with its complexity. Simple projects, such
as requesting a site evaluation, can routinely be initiated by
phone calls and emails; however, those of a complex nature,
such as the construction of a new project, could involve
several professionals attending scoping meetings with City
staff.
In many cases, the City staff may have already determined
the appropriate course of action for the project. In instances
where this is not the case, our initial step will be to perform
field reconnaissance to assess the existing conditions and
the extent of any problem areas. We will then explore
options for resolution and present them to the City staff
for review, discussion and evaluation. Once agreement
has been reached on the most feasible and economical
approach available, design will proceed in accordance with
all applicable standards.
Depending on project complexity, a project initiation
meeting will be conducted with the City to confirm
the project goals and constraints and the management
and reporting procedures. Design concepts and other
considerations for the project will also be discussed.
Available recent reports and data pertinent to each
project will be reviewed. The intent of the review is
to become familiar with the project background and
requirements and to identify critical issues and remedial
measures that may be incorporated into the design at
an early stage.
Depending on the project, we may undertake inquires
and conduct meetings with key agencies such as
SFWMD, FDEP, FDOT, USACE, and local county
departments (e.g., Engineering, Health, Traffic).
