Santiago, Police Chief
June 15, 2023
Repeal of Resolution No. 2022-3321; Approving Purchase of Two (2) Police
Vessels
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to purchase two police vessels for use by the Police Department
In May 2022, the City Commission approved and passed Resolution Number 2022-3321 authorizing
the purchase of a new police vessel from Gravois Aluminum Boats d/b/a Metal Shark. However thf
vendor did not honor the terms of the contract and it was terminated. We are seeking to rescind the
aforementioned Resolution and replacing it with this request.
We are seeking to purchase two police vessels from Phoenix Trading Inc. in an amount not to exceed
$398,454.40 under GSA contract 47QMCA18D006. The purchase of two vessels that are in built and ii
stock will allow the newly expanded Marine Patrol Unit to be operational seven days a week. Each
operator would be assigned their own vessel which would minimize the strain of operating a vessel
everyday, extending the life of the vessels and ensuring they are operational as much as possible.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds have been appropriated in account no 600-3-5210-XXXXXX-XXXXX
ATTACHMENTS:
Resolution
Quote
Item Number: 10.E
234
