RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of this Resolution. REASONS: The Police Department is seeking to enter into this mutual aid agreement with the South Florida Task Force Burglary Apprehension and Vehicle Crimes Unit to proactively investigate these crimes with the shared resources of the participating law enforcement agencies. This agreement will allow the participating departments to render law enforcement assistance for the purposes of jointly addressing burglary offenses, auto theft, and related criminal activity that may cross over into Palm Beach County, Broward County, Miami -Dade County, Martin County and St. Lucie County and into each participating agency's jurisdictional boundaries. Entering into this agreement will allow the participating law enforcement officers to provide assistance in each others County and/or jurisdictional boundaries and to take any and all necessary law enforcement action in the investigation, apprehension and arrest of individuals while involved in the task force operations. These types of crimes have plagued South Florida for years. This agreement will allow our detectives to continue to aggressively and proactively investigate these crimes without jurisdictional limitations while working with the task force. The term of this agreement is one year upon execution and will be automatically renewed for consecutive one- year periods. ATTACHMENTS: Resolution Mutual Aid Agreement Item Number: 10.13 55
