FLOOr'orsuen'
TO:
VIA:
FROM:
DATE:
RE:
City of Sunny Isles Beach
18070 Collins Avenue
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160
(305) 947-0606 City Hall
(305) 949-3113 Fax
MEMORANDUM
Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners
Stan Morris, City Manager
Edward Santiago, Chief of Police
April 18, 2024
Approval of an Agreement with Millenium Products Inc. for an Upgrade to
PCP's CCTV System
a
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
Under the direction of the City Manager's Office, the Police Department has continued to seek
innovative ways to keep our community safe. One area of great importance to safeguard is Pelican
Community Park. The area is mostly used by children and their safety has always been paramount.
Keeping these objectives in mind, the Police Department is seeking approval to enter into an agreement
with Millenium (sic) Products Inc. to upgrade the CCTV system currently in place at PCP. The agreement
has a not to exceed cost of $148,266.61 which includes a ten percent (10%) contingency.
This project will expand coverage of critical areas with new cameras and implement an artificial
intelligence server for use with our current camera system. This Al server will enable the camras to
visually detect the presence of firearms, if they are observed on camera view. If they are observed, an
alert will be sent directly to the Police Communications Center Hiperwall. This will allow our
Communications Officers to get a visual on the event and dispatch police officers immediately.
Additionally, the Al server has the ability to recognize faces. This will allow the police department to
"flag" certain people who may no longer have the privilege of visiting PCP, and their mere presence may
be a crime. This advanced technology may one day save lives.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Copies of the complete contract documents are on file with the Office of the City Clerk and are available
Item Number: 10.E
60
