REASONS: The Police Department is seeking to renew a second amendment to the original agreement with Universal Protection Service d/b/a Allied Universal Security Services for security guard services. This amendment has a not to exceed amount of $230,000 bringing the total not to exceed amount to $753,532.16. The Police Department offers service to the community 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Due to the physical location of the Police Department there is a need to keep the Government Center lobby accessible to the public during the hours of operation for the Police Department. Additionally there is a need to screen visitors during hours of operation for other departments. Universal Protection Service d/b/a Allied Universal Security Services will be obligated to provide one (1) unarmed level 2 security officer to be stationed at the City's Government Center Lobby, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days, inclusive of all holidays. The security officer assigned to the City will also be responsible for receiving and checking in any visitors to the Government Center, for all floors and departments, including the library, utilizing the City's Visitor Management System. Lastly for visitors to Government Center after the City's normal hours of operation, the assigned security officer shall provide access to any individuals seeking to visit the Police Department.
