RESOLUTION NO. 2014 - _2,,O) 2 q A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO SECTION 5.1 OF THE MUNICIPAL CHARTER, CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2015, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH THE NAMES OF ALL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION TO THE POSITION OF CITY COMMISSIONER, SEAT 03 (SOUTHERN RESIDENTIAL AREA); PROVIDING FOR A RUN -OFF ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2015; DESIGNATING ONE REGISTERED VOTER WHO SHALL SERVE NVITH THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK AS THE CANVASSING BOARD FOR SAID SPECIAL ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR CONDUCTING THE ELECTIONS, POLLING PLACES, FORM OF BALLOT, VOTER REGISTRATION, NOTICE OF ELECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS. Section 5.1 of the Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, provides that a special election shall be held when required; and WHEREAS, the City Commission is required to designate a registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City of Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the Special Election and Run -Off Election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Calling ag Special Election. In accordance with the Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and the general laws of the State of Florida; a Special Election is hereby called and directed to be held in the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, and a Run -Off Election, if necessary, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, for the purpose of submitting to the electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the position of City Commissioner, Seat 03 (southern residential area), for the unexpired term, with the qualifying period being from 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2. 2014 until 4:00 p.m. on Friday. December 5. 2014. Section 2. Designation of One Reeistered Voter to Serve on the Canvassing Board. The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby designates Emanuel Pine, as the registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City of Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the Special Election on February 17, 2015. Section 3. Conducting the Elections.
