MEMORANDUM TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Commission VIA: Christopher J. Russo, City Manager FROM: Jane A. Hines, MMC, City Clerk DATE: 10/16/2014 RE: Schedule a Special City Commission Meeting on December 2, 2014 RECOMMENDATION: The attached Resolution is presented for your consideration. REASONS: A City General Election will be held on November 4, 2014 for the Mayor's seat and for City Commissioner Seat 04. Commissioner Gatto has been automatically re- elected to City Commissioner Seat 02 being there were no opponents. Commissioner Scholl resigned his City Commissioner Seat 03 in order to run for the Mayor's seat. His resignation is effective on November 21, 2014, and that vacate seat must be filled within thirty (30) days from the effective date of his resignation. Mayor Edelcup must recommend an appointment to temporarily fill that vacancy for City Commissioner Seat 03 and the City Commission will need to confirm his appointment. A Special City Commission Meeting is being scheduled on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 6:30 p.m., in order to swear -in the newly elected Officials and to confirm the Mayor's recommended appointment to temporarily fill that vacancy.
