Mr. Ian DeMello <br />Shubin & Bass, PA <br />Physical & Chemical Laboratory Testing - 334 Atlantic Avenue <br />Cores - Acid -Soluble Chloride Ion Content and Depth of Carbonation Test <br />December 6, 2022 <br />Page 3 <br />NV5 Project No. 18005.00 <br />Concrete cores labeled as 2 and 5 were shipped to A & S Laboratories for the following tests: <br />• Acid -soluble chloride ion content in general accordance with ASTM C1152-20, Standard Test <br />Method for Acid -Soluble Chloride in Mortar and Concrete and Concrete. <br />• Carbonation (ASTM C856-20, Standard Practice for Petrographic Examination of Hardened <br />Concrete). <br />Concrete core labeled as 2 and 5 were tested for acid -soluble chloride ion content at depth of 0"-1", <br />1"-2" and 2"-3". The percent chlorides were based on testing a 10 -gram pulverized sample of the <br />core. The concrete cores chloride contents of cement ranged from 375 to 1200 parts per million (ppm). <br />The chloride contents are presented in Appendix B. <br />Concrete core labeled as 2, and 5 were tested for depth of carbonation by spraying with an indicator <br />spray such as phenolphthalein. The depths of carbonation indicated bythe testing are summarized in <br />Table 3 and presented in Appendix B.
